Advising

All Honors College students have the opportunity to participate in advising. The Honors College employs an Academic Advisor whose focus is to help incoming
students and students who have not declared majors to explore their class and
career options. By participating in advising, students have the opportunity to
register for classes during the priority registration period. All Honors Students are
eligible to register during this time; Honors courses must be registered through a
staff member in the Honors College, whereas non-Honors courses may be registered
directly by the student via Cougar Trails.

Freshmen
All incoming students are assigned to the Honors College Academic Advisor. This person will be your advisor until you declare a major. At that time you will be assigned an advisor in your department.

When students come for summer Orientation they will have the opportunity to meet
with various staff and faculty associated with the Honors College. A fall schedule will
be made that this time.

During the Fall and Spring semester the students will meet with the Honors Academic
Advisor before priority registration in order to go over potential classes and to
discuss potential majors.

Upperclass Students
Upperclass students are assigned to an advisor in the Honors College based on their class. Declared upperclass students should meet with the major advisor. All upper-class students (regardless of declaration status) must meet with their assigned Honors College staff member during the Fall semester before registering for classes.

William Aiken Fellows
All Williams Aiken Fellows should be advised by the Associate Dean of the Honors College.

Transfer Students
Transfer students should meet with the Honors Academic Advisor until they are
declared.
