Are you wondering if you're a good match for the Honors College? Our students have diverse interests and goals, but share the desire to be challenged academically. We have students in almost every major and who participate in nearly all of our campus organizations. Should You Apply to the Honors College?
The Honors College application process and admissions criteria are slightly different depending on whether you apply as a high school senior, a transfer student, or a current College of Charleston student.
High School Senior Academic Profile
High school seniors who are successful applicants to the Honors College at the College of Charleston meet the following criteria:
Average SAT: 1360
Mid-range SAT (out of 1600): 1300-1410
Average ACT: 30
Mid-range ACT: 29-32
Average Rank In Class: 95th percentile
Average Un-weighted GPA (SC): 3.82
Average Weighted GPA (SC): 4.65
Average Un-weighted GPA (out-of-state): 3.85
Average Weighted GPA (out-of-state): 4.27
Other Criteria:
Students have taken Honors, AP, or IB courses and are active in extracurricular and leadership activities. They exhibit strong writing skills and submit stellar letters of recommendation from teachers.
Transfer Student Academic Profile
Transfer students who are successful applicants to the Honors College at the College of Charleston meet the following criteria:
Average College GPA: 3.70
Other Criteria
Transfer applicants are eligible to apply after one or two semesters of college. The Honors College considers the difficulty of college level courses, college level GPA, strength of college level writing, and the quality of letters of recommendation from professors- standardized test scores and high school transcript information are not considered as part of the Honors College admissions decision for transfer students.
Current College of Charleston Students Academic Profile
Current College of Charleston students who are successful applicants to the Honors College meet the following criteria:
Average College of Charleston GPA: 3.70
Other Criteria
