Internships

Gain Professional Experience

An internship experience will provide you with the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the field of your choosing. Not only are internships helpful in determining a career path, they also offer a chance to build useful skills, knowledge, experience, and connections. The Honors College strongly encourages you to participate in at least one internship and we allow students the opportunity of petitioning to substitute an internship for the Honors College independent study requirement.

You can participate in internships that are for-credit or not-for-credit. Depending on your needs, you may choose to pursue one or the other, or sometimes both.

Honors College students wishing to count their internship as an independent study should meet with the Dr. Bryan Ganaway prior to the start of the internship to discuss the elements of the proposed internship. After the internship is complete, the student submits a petition within six weeks of the completion of the internsip; the Dean of the Honors college will then review the petition and make the final decision.
