Honors Leadership

Honors students routinely distinguish themselves from their peers by stepping up to be leaders on campus. They run the student government, lead social movements, and bring new life and energy to the clubs on campus. The Honors College is exceptionally proud to have our initiatives and organizations led by honors students. Below are some of the opportunities currently available to our students: 

BGS Peer Facilitator (Paid)

Each year, the Honors College employs approximately 20 Honors students to serve as Peer Facilitators for the Honors FYE course, Beyond George Street. First-year students are particularly encouraged to apply. As a PF, you will be a mentor, teacher, advisor, coach, and crucial connecting link for first-year students. You will also receive training from the Center for Excellence in Peer Education and contribute meaningfully to shaping the curriculum for the next BGS class.  


Honors Student Association Officer

HSA officers learn leadership skills, how to prepare and work within budgets, how to work collaboratively to put on successful events, and how to increase the engagement of Honors students into the Honors community. HSA officers positively impact students’ experiences in the Honors College and have opportunities to collaborate with other leaders within the Honors College and with the Honors College Dean through community roundtables.


Honors College Office Intern (Paid)

As an Office Intern in the Honors Center, you are commonly the source of the first impression of the Honors College for our prospective students and their families. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including mature phone etiquette) are a must. Student workers must be passionate about the Honors College, up-to-date on Honors College events and prospective student protocol, and able to quickly adapt to whatever is needed of them on a day-to-day basis. This position reports to the Office Manager.


Honors College Content and Community Officer (Paid)

The Content and Community Manager will be key to maintaining the Honors Hub and sustaining engagement across all social platforms. The intern will play a major role in coordinating, editing and producing content in various forms, and will be the “voice” of the Honors College on all outlets  This position is ideally suited for students who hope to gain experience in the fields of leadership, journalism, higher education, social media marketing and/or content marketing. This position reports to the Associate Director of Recruitment and Marketing for the Honors College.


Honors Engaged Project Liaison (Paid)

Honors Engaged Project Liaisons oversee the coordination and administration of one of the Honors Engaged partnerships. Duties include corresponding with the assigned community partner, communicating with first-year students, managing participants and administration of the designated program, reviewing student assignments and assigning grades, and ensuring that the delivery of the overall program and its activities are in accordance with the mission and goals of Honors Engaged. 


Honors Engaged Co-Coordinator (Paid)

Honors Engaged Co-Coordinators perform a similar role to the Project Liaisons, with expanded duties. Duties include coordinating the project student leaders and their communication with project partners, maintaining the Honors Engaged website, assisting with the placement of students in projects, assisting with publicity and recognition of the program, assisting with grant writing, managing project implementation, collecting information from project partners about the impact of BGS students, and other duties assigned by the Dean.
