The Honors Entrepreneurship Living-Learning Community

E-LLC

People don't buy a product, they buy a story. Tell yours today.

The E-LLC is a year-long cohort experience for incoming Honors students. Members of the E-LLC live together their freshmen year, enroll in an Honors entrepreneurship class, and receive frequent mentorship from peers, faculty, and community changemakers.

“I received multiple one-on-one mentoring sessions to help me navigate my freshman year. I was also given the opportunity to have a leadership position by coming back to serve as the student director for the E-LLC. Lastly, I was connected to other freshman students who were like-minded and gave me a great group of friends that felt like a family.”

– Olivia Yalden ’23

The E-LLC is a partnership between the Honors College and the School of Business’ Center for Entrepreneurship and is open to students of all majors, interests, and backgrounds.

How it Works

Each year the program welcomes a cohort of first year Honors College students who live together in Joe E. Berry Hall, the Honors College's living-learning community. This allow for close-knit collaboration and relationship building among E-LLC members.

Students also enroll in HONS 205: Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice their first semester, where they…

  • Explore entrepreneurial concepts and innovative business strategies
  • Participate in pitch competitions and give public presentations
  • Attend networking events with Charleston-area entrepreneurs
  • Receive regular mentorship from peers, program alumni, and faculty

“I really loved the collaborative aspect of the cohort. You get to work with other students across disciplines to really find the intersectionality of your interests. I also really appreciate the network of connections and faculty mentors you leave the cohort with. I continue to tap into those resources today and probably will throughout my four years.”

– Brandon Alston ’24
